Typical Medical

 
The medical examinations, conducted at our offices in Glasgow, take around an hour to complete and includes the following elements:
  • Completion of questionnaire
  • Eye test
  • Blood pressure measurement
  • Urine test
  • Full physical examination of heart, lungs, circulation, nervous system, musculoskeletal system and abdomen

Certification & Application Form

 
Upon successful completion of the medical, a certificate will be issued on the same day as the appointment.  (Note – patients will also be informed of any abnormal findings which could affect the issue or renewal of the licence.)
 
This certificate can then be returned alongside a completed D4 medical form to the DVLA.   For more information regarding ‘Medical Rules for Drivers’ please refer to the DVLA website at www.dvla.gov.uk/medical.aspx
 

Licence Renewals

 
The DVLA require existing lorry drivers to have a medical at the age of 45, and thereafter every five years until the age of 65.
 
NOTE – Drivers over the age of 65 require a medical each year.
 
The DVLA will usually send out a reminder letter, together with the D4 medical form, a few weeks before your medical is due.
